How to prepare for waxing (and what to do after)
A few small steps before and after make waxing more effective and the skin smoother, with no ingrown hairs.

Before waxing: the right length
The first secret of a successful wax is the length of the hair. Too short and the wax can't grip it; too long and the removal becomes more uncomfortable. The ideal is a few millimetres: usually one or two weeks since your last shave or wax is enough.
If you've shaved recently, it's worth waiting a moment before the appointment. Skin with hair the right length makes the work quicker, more effective and less uncomfortable for you.
Exfoliate in the days before
A gentle exfoliation a couple of days before waxing makes a big difference. It removes dead cells on the surface, frees the hairs that struggle to come through and prepares the skin for a cleaner wax. It's also the first weapon against ingrown hairs.
On the day of the appointment, though, come with clean skin and no creams or oils: a dry, bare surface lets the wax grip better and work well.
After waxing: calm and hydration
In the hours afterwards the skin is more sensitive: it's best to avoid direct sun, sauna, the pool and scented or harsh products. A little redness is normal and passes quickly. A soothing cream or a hydrating gel helps the skin find comfort again.
In the following days go back to exfoliating gently, once or twice a week: it's the step that keeps the skin smooth and keeps ingrown hairs away between one wax and the next.
